I just saw a question that clarified what I’ve always known: that the only obstacle preventing many people from seeing the obvious truth of God’s existence is the fact that deep down in their hearts they don’t want God to exist. But doesn’t it remain their deepest and innermost fear?

My biggest fear are the people that believe in god and perform countless atrocities in in his name
Wow wouldn’t that be a difficult pill to swallow?
i think the biggest fear of people like you and who do these rants is that the FACT that there’s no proof that god exists. People like you need that crutch of religion to keep you straight.
strong minded people just need to believe in themselves. find god in themsleves and THAT’S where the search ends.
Most atheists like me are 100% convinced that God does not exist. Therefore there is no need for our deepest/innermost fear to be that he exists. Kind of defeats the purpose of being an atheist don’t you think.
I believe you do have to find God in YOURSELF. And as for atheists go… I think every atheist is ignorant! I’m not religious because I despise a lot of "bible thumpers!!!" But I am extremely spiritual. I have no idea what/how an atheist thinks and I’m glad I don’t.
Why would anyone be afraid of that?
That’s one odd thing about Christians – many of them think you should fear god because he’s supposedly spiteful. Well, if your god is spiteful, that’s a pretty shitty god! Why should I worship a spiteful (and thus imperfect) creature?
Honestly I would be relieved if there were a god, because that would suggest that maybe there’s an afterlife. My deepest and innermost fear is dying and blinking out of existence. I’ve often wished I could be religious so I wouldn’t have to worry about that, but my mind is too scientific to allow me to believe in an all-powerful being. It’s just too improbable and illogical for me to buy it.
I’m afraid that’s false by definition. An atheist is one who believes that God does not exist. If he fears that God exists, then he’s not sure, and that makes him agnostic, not atheistic.
And beside that, it’s possible to believe that God exists but not that he requires any particular religious beliefs from us, or religious practices, he just wants us to be good, live a moral and ethical life. If God really wanted something in particular from us, he’d let us know. Instead he leaves it up to us, and gives us the independent conscience and moral sense whether we believe in him or not, whether we have religious training or not.
Do -you- live in fear that God does -not- exist, so when you die you’ll look like a fool for believing? Of course not. You follow the rules as you see them and you have nothing to be ashamed of. So long as your belief in God didn’t lead you to mass murder or something like that.
No, I don’t at all fear the exitence of an imaginary being.
Are you truly incapable of grasping the simple concept that atheists simply don’t believe in god?
There’s NO evidence of any Sky Bully, or any reason to think one exists.
How can that be too complex a concept for people to grasp?
You have NOT always known what atheists think, as you’ve got it completely wrong.
There is no god.
Simple concept. Not fear, rationality.
Honestly, I’m not afraid of what I’m certain does not exist.
Sure, I am occasionally afraid of the dark, because there are creeps out there and I’m afraid of them. But I know that there is no god.
Therefore I’m not afraid
Truthfully, I think its the exact opposite. My deepest fear is that god does not exist and this is just some system to contain and controll people. Most people aren’t smart enough to do the right thing for the right reason so at some point this was written to be a form of public conciseness. If there is a god, I get to live on, see loved ones etc, etc.. if there isn’t a god your just worm food and who would want that.
